Anya Schiffrin is the author of Global Muckraking: 100 Years of Investigative Journalism from Around the World. Maria Teresa Ronderos has a long career as a reporter and editor in several media. She has also been director of the Independent Journalism Program of the Open Society Institute. They will talk to Jonathan Levi about the role of the media in promoting economic growth, good governance and governmental responsibility. They will consider the conditions needed so that journalists can become effective guard dogs, and analyse the success and failure of some of the most important journalism campaigns of the last hundred years.
