Literature on the city. Juan Diego Mejía and Sergio Vila-Sanjuán in conversation with Sergio Dahbar

Cartagena 2020,

At this event we pay a visit to the cities of Medellin and Barcelona with two acclaimed writers. Juan Diego Mejía is the author of the novel El cine era mejor que la vida, which won the 1996 Colcultura Prize and established his reputation as a poetic writer who takes us into the streets of his city, Medellin, where his characters can be found. His latest novel, Soñamos que vendrían por el mar (2016), goes back to the 1970s and tells of the dreams and disappointments of a generation of young intellectuals who are committed to revolution. The cultural novelist and journalist Sergio Vila-Sanjuán edits the Cultura/s supplement of La Vanguardia newspaper. He is the author of a trilogy set in Barcelona: Una heredera de Barcelona (2010), Estaba en el aire (2013 Nadal Prize) and El informe Casabona (2017), novels that portray a century of life in the city, combining family memoir and social history. They will talk to Sergio Dahbar.
