A Tale of Three Cities, about the great city which has been the capital of four empires and is the perfect example of the meeting between the Eastern and the Western worlds. From Christianity to Islam; from Phoenicians and Greeks to Vikings; and from Byzantium and Constantinople to today’s Turkish capital, Hughes tells of the great transformations undergone by the city, central to so many peoples and cultures.
