Hallie Rubenhold in conversation with Peter Florence

Arequipa 2019,

Hallie Rubenhold (United Kingdom/United States) is a historian, writer and historical consultant for the television and film industry. She has written two historical novels and five non-fiction books, including The Covent Garden Ladies and Lady Worlsey’s Whim, which have inspired television series in the United Kingdom. Her most recent work is The Five, a collection of five biographies of women, all found dead in 1888 and presumed to have been killed by the infamous Jack the Ripper. Her work is an exploration of the lives of women in 19th-century Britain, focussing on an aspect that was taboo for the conservative English society of the time: sex.
