Black holes and gravitational waves. Conference by Gerardo Herrera

Querétaro 2019,

The Mexican physicist Gerardo Herrera works at ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment), one of the major experiments run at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland. Agujeros negros y ondas gravitacionales. Una mirada profunda al universo is his fifth book. It tells the story of the force of gravity, from the first propositions (Ptolomy, Democritus, Aristotle), to the recent identification of a black hole. The book shows how the human mind first understood gravity as a fundamental force (an empirical phenomenon that has no prior explanation), to being accepted as a phenomenon that modifies time and space, as predicted by Einstein decades ago. Herrera’s work is a fascinating immersion in the mysteries of a universe, only 4% of which has been revealed to us.
