Musician, composer and Doctor of Philosophy, Santiago Auserón fronted the band Radio Futura before setting out on a solo career as Juan Perro. His attraction to philosophy fits in with his vocation as eternal student. As a writer, he has published compilations of songs such as Canciones de Radio Futura (1999) and Canciones de Juan Perro (2013). He is also the author of La imagen sonora. Notas para una lectura filosófica de la nueva música popular (1998) and El ritmo perdido. Sobre el influjo negro en la canción española (2012). For over four decades he has been exploring rock, jazz, son cubano, soul, rhythm & blues, reggae and pop, and reflecting on the relationship between philosophy and music.
