The French writer Pierre Ducrozet will talk about the startling life of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the protagonist of his biographical novel, Eroica (2015). Basquiat, one of the most idiosyncratic and famous artists of the second half of the 20th-century, grew up in the 1960s and 70s in New York, his father being Haitian and his mother of Puerto Rican descent. He started painting in the streets and soon he was completing canvases filled with a rich range of references, including Abstract Expressionism and Primitivism. This friend of Andy Warhol died after an overdose at the early age of 27. Ducrozet will look at the life of one of the most fascinating artists of the last century.
