The Swiss writer and dramatist Lukas Bärfuss has published a number of novels in several languages, including Koala (2014) and One Hundred Days (2012). One Hundred Days follows the experiences of a young Swiss aid worker in Rwanda during the genocide of the Tutsis by the Hutus in 1994. Koala is an examination of why the protagonist’s half-brother takes his own life. The work, set in Australia and featuring, once again, the author’s delicate, precise prose, is a continuation of the author’s concern with the brutality and visceral nature of humans in contrast with the progress and the society that surround them. In conversation with Miguel Barreda.
