Yoani Sánchez is a Cuban philologist and journalist. She is the director of the digital newspaper 14ymedio.com and the author of the blog Generación Y, whose critical take on Cuban life has brought her a large number of followers, with more than ten million visits per month. Sánchez won the 2008 Ortega y Gasset Journalism Award and was selected by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world this year. Her blog was also chosen as one of the 25 best blogs of 2009 in a selection for Time magazine and CNN. Media organizations such as Spain’s El País, the US Foreign Policy and Mexico’s Gatopardo have written about her work. At this event, she will talk to the Peruvian journalist and writer Marco Sifuentes.
