In Varados en Río, a work between the travelogue and the literary essay, the Spanish writer Javier Montes writes about Rio de Janeiro. The Rio of secret pleasures of Manuel Puig; the ramshackle and hostile Rio that Rosa Chacel faced; the legendary and sophisticated Rio of the 50s, the ultramodern houses, the political intrigues, the bohemian golden age that Elizabeth Bishop met ad the painfully oblivious Rio to the photos of Stefan Zweig's suicide. In Donde el silencio se bifurca, Gerardo Piña writes a desolate and angry monologue which opens with the words “I will die soon.” This Mexican believes that the salvation to the social problems we face will come from inspiring critical thinking. Both authors will talk about their works with Guillermo Núñez.
