Patrice grew up in different types of families – a foster family, a family with a stepdad, and a single parent family. Like her award-winning novel Orangeboy, her new book is about loyalty, friendship, resilience, music and belonging. For this event, she will talk about her unusual family (with pictures) and how feeling different made her bury her head in books, then write her own.
