He is an Economics graduate from the University of the Andes with a Master's degree in Economic Development. He currently serves as Chair of the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia, ANDI. After more than twenty years of working in investment banking, he decided to make the leap into public administration as Deputy Minister General of Finance in 2010, where he was in charge of the ministry on several occasions. He was responsible for the creation of the Department for Social Prosperity, DPS, of the National Government. He served as acting mayor of his city, Cartagena, was co-founder of Compartamos con Colombia and the Granitos de Paz Foundation and has served on the boards of directors of the Pies Descalzos, Batuta, Semana, Corporación Conexión Colombia, Víctor Salvi and Casa de la Madre y el Niño foundations. He is the author of El territorio de los país resignados.
