Winner Stibbe meets her Cheerful piggy

Author Nina Stibbe was today presented with the 2019 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction for her novel Reasons to be Cheerful at the Hay Festival.

Following last year’s prize being withheld as submissions failed to make judges unanimously laugh out loud, Stibbe was awarded an extra special rollover prize of a methuselah of Bollinger Special Cuvée, along with a case, a giant Gloucester Old Spot boar named after her winning novel, and a complete set of the Everyman’s Library collection of P.G. Wodehouse books. She joins a roster of 19 previous winners including Helen Fielding, Howard Jacobson, Marina Lewycka, Terry Pratchett, Hannah Rothschild and Will Self.
