Crafting a business

It has been artisan day today in the Market Square in Hay, where a marquee is crammed with small businesses selling gifts for all ages and genders, however difficult they may be to buy for. The 60-plus stalls vying for attention include handmade textiles, jewellery, giclée prints and original art, hand-turned wood, upcycled clothing, blacksmithed accessories, willow woven baskets, sculpture, fused glass decorations and accessories, soy and beeswax candles, with of course, hot and cold refreshments. We are fortunate in Hay to have so many skilled craftspeople in the town and environs which, together will all our independent shops, makes this part of the Welsh Borders a unique and guilt-free shopping Mecca. After the craft market closes, there are many more gift ideas in the Baillie Gifford tent.
