Chevalier's Girl With a Pearl Earring was a fictionalised account of who might be the model for Vermeer's famous painting, and what her relationship with the artist might be. While Moggach's Tulip Fever follows a 17th century painter in Amsterdam who falls in love with a married woman whose portrait he has been commissioned to paint.
