The Italian writer Antonio Scurati lectures in Comparative Literature at Milan’s Free University of Language and Communication and is the winner of the 2019 Strega Award –Italy’s most prestigious literary prize− for his book M. Il figlo del secolo, a novel about the life of Benito Mussolini, his rise to power and the advent of fascism in Italy. Scurati creates a portrait of a man whose power shaped an era and who represents a historical trauma that is still felt today. The author talks to Riccardo Cannelli.
