Hay Festival Jericó launches

Today is the day we have been waiting for, 25th of January. Today is a remarkable day for Hay Festival in Colombia, as it opens the first festival in Jericó. Land of great writers and artists as Hector Abad Gómez, Manuel Mejía Vallejo, Jesusita Vallejo, José Restrepo Jaramillo and Dolly Mejía, Hay Festival and Jericó absolutely match together.

This colourful city of Antioquia awaits with open arms the screening of Jericó, el infinito vuelo de los días Catalina Mesas first work (tonight, 19:00). The documentary director herself and some of the actresses of the film, which live in the city, will be in the screening for a conversation with the audience. The event will be outdoors, at the Parque Principal de Jericó.

On Saturday conversations with national and international renowned guests will begin. Writers Héctor Abad Faciolince, Horacio Benavides, Santiago Gamboa, Pilar Quintana and Juan Gabriel Vásquez are a true proof of the good health of the national literature; Vladdo will have a conversation about a current issue: satire and humour occasionally fall short so as to portray reality; and Jorge Orlando Melo will make an approach of the history of our country for us. Chilean writer Alejandra Costamagna, journalists Xavi Ayén and Sabrina Duque and renowned botanist Carlos Magdalena will be the representative of international talent.

Everyone can enjoy Hay Festival Jericó; therefore, there will be several children workshops during the whole weekend. One of the highest points of the festival will be on Saturday night with the concert of Puerto Candelaria band, open to general public.
