Margarita Rosa DE FRANCISCO

de-francisco-margarita-rosa
(Cali, 1965) A Colombian actor appreciated around the world for her roles in film and television over the course of her thirty-nine-year career. Although she has always doubted her own literary abilities, 15 years of writing as a columnist for respected media outlets such as the newspaper El Tiempo, the magazines Poder, SoHo and El Espectador´s Ellas, and in her first book, El hombre del teléfono, have revealed a striking and, in many cases, controversial skill. Her constant participation in Colombian public debate has made her one of the most influential opinion leaders on Twitter, from which she retired when her account reached over 2,600,000 followers. Nowadays, away from the hectic nature of the networks, she runs her website, margaritavasola.com, as a way of practising "the art of delay" in her own texts and in those of others. She studied Drama with Juan Carlos Corazza in Madrid, Music at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, and at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, offering her a path in the performing arts, one that is increasingly being replaced by more academic concerns. She is currently studying Philosophy at the National Open and Distance University.
