(Mexico City, 1947) Poet and essay writer. He has published, among others, the poetry books Algarabía inorgánica (1979), ¿Hacia dónde es aquí? (1984), Los días descalzos (1992), Balanza de sombras (1996, Aguascalientes National Poetry Prize), El quieto (2008), Los árboles que poblarán el Ártico (2012, Carlos Pellicer Iberoamerican Poetry Prize) and Poesía reunida (1999). He has also published the non-fiction Favores recibidos (2012). He has been a member of the National Artists’ Network since 1993 and currently teaches poetry at the Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas.
