(Argentina, 1939) Writer and filmmaker. Born in Buenos Aires, he livedin Paris for decades before gradually returning to live in his native city. Hehas written books and stories such as Lanovia de Odessa (City of Buenos Aires Prize), El rufián moldavo, Maniobras nocturnas, Lejos de dónde (AcademiaArgentina de Letras award for best book) and his latest work Nuevomuseo del chisme, ensayo y relatos (2013). He has also written essays and reports such as El pase del testigo, Milongas, Palacios plebeyos and Blues. In his films he has used amixture of fiction and documentary and these have featured in a number ofretrospectives. They include La Guerra deun solo hombre (1981), CitizenLanglois (1994), El violín de Rothschild (1996) and Ronda nocturna(2005). He is currently filming Una carta al padre (2013).
