(Pakistan/United Kingdom) Poet, artist and documentary film-maker. Awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2014, recipient of the Cholmondeley Award from the Society of Authors, she is also a Council member of the Royal Society of Literature and on the Editorial Board of Poems on the Underground. Her latest collection is Over the Moon (Bloodaxe Books, 2014). With Poetry Live! she reads to over 25,000 students a year. She has had 11 solo exhibitions of her drawings. She also scripts and directs films, many of them for non-government organisations in India, working in the area of shelter, education and health for women and children.
