Her name means "Cumare palm flower" and her civil name is Isabel Castro. She is a caretaker of the Amazon rainforest, midwife and traditional knowledgeable of the Uitoto people. Together with her husband, Rayo de Sol, they are the traditional authority of the community located in Puerto Milán. Ñek+na is the owner of most of the seeds in her territory, she is also the mother of 10 children and has lived all her life in the forest with her family. She belongs to a generation of indigenous people who were orphaned and indoctrinated by the Catholic church, and in her youth she lived through the second rubber bonanza, that of the skins and coca.
