Juan Miguel ÁLVAREZ

alvarez-juan-miguel Juan Miguel Álvarez (Bogota, 1977). Independent reporter specialising in culture and human rights issues. He writes for a range of printed and virtual magazines and works as editor of the Baudó public agency. He is the author of Verde tierra calcinada, a book that was distinguished as one of the three best in Colombian fiction in 2018. He also wrote another non-fiction work entitled Balas por encargo (2013) and the anthology Lugar de tránsito (2021). In addition to having received distinctions from other writers in his country, he has been included on the shortlist for the Gabo Award twice (2015 and 2017), and the True Story Award in 2019. He lives in Pereira, Colombia.
