Communications graduate from the Querétaro campus of ITESM, with later postgraduate studies in Hispano-American Literature at Harvard University and Cultural Heritage at the Museum of America in Madrid. She won first place in the 1988 Rosario Castellanos National Prize. This founder of the Comunicación del Centro publishing company has published six books of fiction, biography and essays and has written prologues for and edited another 20. She has published in the United States, Canada and Panama and lectured in literature at universities in Mexico and the United States. Her work has included participating with nine non-profit organizations with cultural goals. She won the Junípero Serra medal for her contributions to Querétaro, granted by the State Congress in 2006. In the United States she has been given honorary membership of Sigma Delta Pi for her contribution to disseminating the Spanish language.
